Frequently Asked Questions
What is included in a hunting package?
Packages typically include accommodation, halal meals, a professional hunter and tracker, transport on the reserve and rifle hire. Airport transfers and trophy fees depend on the package and the animals you choose. Your tailored quote sets out exactly what is included.
Are the meals halal?
Yes. All meals are halal, the accommodation is alcohol-free and the daily programme is planned around prayer times.
Is the meat from the hunt halal?
Every hunt is carried out with the Tasmiyah and proper halal slaughter. Antelope such as impala, springbuck, blesbuck, kudu and waterbuck, as well as blue wildebeest and giraffe, are widely considered halal. Scholars differ on zebra, so please check with your own scholar. The warthog belongs to the pig family and its meat is not halal.
Which animals can I hunt?
Giraffe, kudu bull, blue wildebeest, zebra, waterbuck, impala, springbuck, blesbuck and warthog. Tell us which animals interest you and we will plan the right number of days.
How long are the packages?
Our packages run from 3 to 12 days, or we can build a bespoke itinerary around your dates.
When is the best time to come?
The cooler months from April to September are the most popular hunting season, with comfortable days and easier game spotting. Contact us for other dates.
Where are you, and how do I get there?
We are in the malaria-free Eastern Cape, near Port Elizabeth (Gqeberha). Fly to Johannesburg or Cape Town, then take a short domestic flight to Chief Dawid Stuurman International Airport (PLZ). We can arrange your transfer to the reserve.
Can I bring my family or non-hunting guests?
Yes. Families, children and non-hunting guests are welcome. While the hunters are in the field, others can enjoy game drives, nature walks or a day trip to Addo Elephant National Park or the beach.
Do I need to bring my own rifle?
No. You can use our well-maintained rifles. If you prefer to bring your own, you will need a South African temporary firearm import permit (SAPS 520), and we will guide you through the process.
Can I take the meat or trophies home?
This depends on the veterinary and import rules of your country. Trophies are prepared by a professional taxidermist and take several months; some species, such as giraffe, need export permits. Ask us and we will explain the options.
How do I book?
